How Does Botox Work?
Whenever the skin on our face moves, such as when squinting or smiling, the body’s nervous system sends signals to the muscles underneath the skin, called neurotransmitters, that cause the muscles (and our skin) to move.

Over time, this constant contraction of the facial muscles is what causes the appearance of wrinkles.

Botox, a form of neuromodulator, is used to block the neurotransmitters that are sent to our facial muscles. By blocking the signals that cause our facial muscles to contract, Botox is able to relax the muscles and, ultimately, reduce the appearance of wrinkled skin.

Where Is Botox Used?
Botulinum Toxin is typically used to reduce wrinkles in between the eyebrows, or the Glabella area, as well as the areas around the eyes (commonly referred to as Crow’s Feet.)

How Much Does Botox Cost?
Our Botox treatments are priced at $12 per unit. We do not charge an injection fee.

Botox is typically priced per unit of medicine. The total cost of a treatment depends on how many units a person needs to achieve their desired results. In addition to the number of units, many Botox treatment centers charge an injection fee. Additionally, some treatment centers charge a flat-rate for treating different areas. Because different people require different amounts of Botox for proper treatments, paying a flat-rate to treat a particular area will likely mean that some patients will pay more, and some will pay less, than they would if they paid by the unit.

Most of Verve’s patients purchase Botox packages, providing considerable savings on Botox treatments as well as the flexibility to use however many units of medicine whenever desired. Visit our Treatment Specials page to learn more about our current deals!

How Do I Know How Much Botox I Need?
There are several factors that determine the number of units needed for a patient to achieve their desired results. It is important to understand that individual responses to Botox often vary from patient to patient. Some patients simply need a lower number of units than others to achieve proper results.

One common factor that determines the number of required units is the length of time since a patient was last treated with Botox. For example, if a patient had a full response to a Botox treatment several months ago, the dosage required to achieve results may be less than a patient whose last treatment was 12 months ago.

Another common factor in determining a patient’s required number of units is the area being treated; some areas simply require more units on average than other areas. An example of this is underarm sweating, which is a condition commonly treated with Botox. It is not uncommon to use more units of Botox when treating underarm sweating than when using Botox to treat movement lines between the brows.

Finally, some patients want more or less of a specific response than others, requiring different amounts of medication.
